Starlux ready to expand horizons in North America

Taiwan-based Starlux Airlines plans to expand its activities  in North America despite the economic difficulties caused by COVID-19 worldwide. The airline has already submitted a plan to its Civil Aeronautics Administration to serve 15 destinations across the U.S. If everything goes by the book, the routes could potentially be launched in 2022.

The aviation industry novice, which was launched in January 2020, is projecting long-haul flights between Taipei and Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Guam, Honolulu, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York (JFK), New York (Newark), Ontario, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, also Washington DC, according to Focus Taiwan.

Following the news, Focus Taiwan reported that the expansion plan will depend on market circumstances and delivery of its wide-body Airbus A350 aircraft.

Starlux will fly nine A350-900s and eight A350-1000s. This purchase would make the aviation startup the first Taiwanese carrier to operate A350-1000s, according to Taiwan Wire.

Starlux currently positions itself as a luxury airline, as all aircraft will offer first class experience. However, the airline has yet to reveal its seat and cabin design.
